Above you is the map of our intended route on this trip to Southern California. We pray that the current wild fires will be out by the time we arrive. What a tragedy!

To the right is a map of the trip we took today. All the pictures in the slides below may be paused by hovering your mouse over a picture. You may enlarge it with a click. Another click and it will return to its original size.

We first headed to the Shenandoah Caverns. We didn’t go down to see them as we thought it would not be nice leaving Tickle in the cold car for a long time. However, we did get to see the Main Street of Yesteryear which starts on the first floor and then heads upstairs.

The giant three bears had been in a Rose Parade. We learned that there were floats from a few presidential inaugural parades on exhibit at the American Celebration on Parade Museum. Alas, it is only opened in the Spring and Fall. We’ll have to make a point of returning to see what we missed.

The Virginia Museum of Transportation is a very long building. It includes planes, trains and automobiles. There are some funky looking modes of transportation on exhibit. Check out that Velocipede Hand Car. What a riot!

The Southwest Virginia Cultural Center states on its website that it is opened until 6:00. We found out that its webmaster has not updated it. We got there as it closed. However, the staff was nice enough to let us use the restrooms and allowed us to take a couple of pictures. It was a cold day but an easy ride.
