Cruisers went their separate ways in Ponta Delgada. Ellen and Jorge headed to the north part of the island to visit the city center of Ribeira Grande. There’s a river flowing right through town and the locals have controlled it with walls made of volcanic rock. They’ve laid out a park area around this waterway. We understand that the river water is channeled to water wheels which we did not get to see. Then we headed to see Fire Lake which is inside a volcano crater. Afterwards we visited to a pineapple farm. Ellen and Jorge had been there before on another trip. These tiny pineapples are good and expensive.
