This morning we got a few pictures of a statue of Bird Millman O’Day. She was one of the most celebrated high-wire performers of all time. So, it was natural to see her on a wire!
We also got a picture of a stegosaurus. It is special because it was built by prison employees. Wonders never cease!
Anytime we can take a Segway tour we jump at it. The iLean Ride Company rides to tourist attractions in Fremont County CO. Aaron was our guide today and got us retrained in the use of the Segway no time. He took us on a tour of old town Cañon City. It was a blast.
After the ride we took pictures of the Royal Gorge Bridge Park. The highest single span suspension bridge in North America, spanning 1,280 feet across and 1,053 feet over the Arkansas River below is the main attraction. The park encompasses the ground on both sides and offers a state-of-the-art amusement center. A couple of those rides are too fancy or scary for the light hearted!
We then enjoyed beautiful mountain, gorgeous, and Alpine plateaus on our ride to Fruita CO. The sights at the Blue Mesa Reservoir were spectacular. We will have to return to Montrose CO someday to visit their Museum of the Mountain West. It was founded by Richard Fike. Take a look at how it all came about by clicking here.
