The question for us this morning was: Why make a statue of a hooded man on a gallows? We had to go see. We found it is located is a small corner park called the Molly Maguire Historical Park in Mahanoy City PA. It all had to do with the story of the Molly Maguires and 19 men hung.

The funny thing about this group is that nobody seems to be sure wether they actually existed. Were they good or bad? Were they a convenient ways to a end? Hmm?

The National Civil War Museum was a treat. We’ve seen lots of museums dedicated to that war. This one takes you from the beginning to the end and attempts to show how both sides thought that their way was worth fighting and dying for.

Then there’s Tiny World in Shippensburg PA. Ernest Helm created it and after he died it has fallen into disrepair. Still it was a treat to see his creation. Then, in spite of the poor weather today, we made it home safely.
