We left on the bus from Cologne to get to Frankfort. Along the way we stopped in Koblenz. A local guide named Marc Holzheimer took us around town. We witnessed a bit of official German humor. On the right there is a short movie. It is about the Eye Roller. He has rolling eyes and sticks his tongue out.
It’s to let the politicians know that someone is watching them. Some poor fellow was decapitated a long time ago. He may have been innocent. It is told that before dying he rolled his eyes and stuck his tongue out to show the authorities what he thought about their brand of justice. Well, it’s funny now…
Then there is the boy who spits water at passers by. If they happen to be standing near this fountain, on the right spot, he will spit water on them. They love their children.
After a short trip we boarded a “rental” ship to take us up the Main River. Why? So that we wouldn’t miss the wonderful German castles from the river. The town views were beautiful too. The guides report that there was a drought last year and things were tough.
This year was perfect as was our day. Some of the castles are included in our pictures. It was good to sit, relax and have a brew. Ellen, who doesn’t drink it at home, really likes the beer.
The best news is that tomorrow night we finally get to board the MS River Adagio. It will be our floating hotel the rest of the way, except for going to Heidelburg on a bus.
