Today’s drive was a very long one. Having taken this route several times, we’ve seen most of the sites. So we decided to wing it and take pictures of whatever appeals to us.

As we prepared to leave Van Horn TX we found that Elon Musk had built his Space X Center about 30 miles out of town, which explains why the Origin mural is in town. We also found a private sculpture garden on our way out of town. Very nice!

We passed the typical truck weigh station and the state inspection stations. Along the way there was plenty to photograph.

This is a beautiful country. Even the deserts are gorgeous in their own special way. Yes, we stopped at a few tourist traps and thought that they weren’t so bad. Hence, you’ll see some pictures of the trinkets they sell.

The Thing is a tourist trap, too. We stopped there to change drivers and use the facilities. It has come a long way from our first visit there.

Originally, it was a few attached wooden shacks. They were dark and dusty. Now, everything is plastic, shiny and new. Time marches on.
