In order to vary our trip we decided to by-pass the crowded freeways of Phoenix AZ . We took a trip to see Gila Bend AZ. This detour only added 9 minutes to our trip.

Also, we found a neat museum in town located in their city hall and visitor center. It’s basically a one room show. It’s packed with lots of stuff and very cool model buildings. These were supposed to be replicas of places built in the old West. We have a few pictures to show you.

It’s interesting to us that all over the United States people are interested in dinosaurs. They are not missing in Gila Bend either.

The desert changed a bit and we got to see lots of saguaro trees. Yes, cactus!

We had lunch at the Black Bear Diner. There is one in Oxnard (Ellen’s home in California), too, We dined at the original one year ago near Mt. Shasta CA. As of now there are 143 nationwide.

We’re in California but not home yet. Let’s see what pictures we take tomorrow!
