Today’s drive was mostly about getting to our next hotel. However, we did go through the town of Battle Mountain in Nevada. Its moniker is “The Armpit of America.” Instead of being insulted, the town people took to it and for years held annual street festival. While the festival is now a thing of the past the moniker still sticks.
In Elko NV you’ll see a picture of Ellen standing in front of White King Bear. At one time a real, enormous, stuffed bear was on display inside. We wonder where it is because the casino is closed.
We drove a toward the Bonneville Salt Flats but then decided to take photos from Interstate 80. We did spot some people and cars having fun out on the flats.
The Tree of Utah is right by the salt flats. It has been around since 1983. We finally arrived in Wyoming and to our hotel. Yeah!
