We visited our favorite breakfast place in Ozona, Texas. It is called Pepe’s Cafe and the food, as always, was excellent. Outside his restaurant is a water fountain. It iced over. Check out that first picture. Brrr!

We headed for the West of the Pecos Museum located in Pecos, Texas. We’ve been there three times before but never got in. It was either closed or were having a private party. Today was our lucky day!

Outside the museum, just across the street, there used to be a Pecos Bill park with a statue of him. And there was a complete Chamber of Commerce building, too. We had taken pictures on previous trips.

Today, it looks as if a tornado had destroyed the place. We found out that a railway train jumped the nearby tracks after hitting a semi-trailer. It had stalled on the tracks and a minute later was hit.

All of this happened on December 18, 2024 at around 5:00 p.m. Several people were hurt and the two train drivers lost their lives. So sad!

The museum has a small park for children next to it. It includes a big water fountain. It was frozen. Yes, it was cold but the sun was shining. It was an odd thing to see in this desert town.

The museum is dedicated to everything western. It starts out with a bartender at the saloon who is supposedly animatronic. Today, he didn’t move.

Many of the rooms upstairs held exhibits about saddles, cowboy hats, cowgirls, schools and more. We show a few in our photos today.

Next we headed to the Pueblo de Socorro Mission. We got there a bit late so we took photos outside.  We got to see the border wall. It looks tall. We were glad to be on the right side of it. Another great day on the road!
