Today, July 10th, is the statehood day for Wyoming (1890). However, we don’t think that people here need a reason for a party. The rodeo and county fairs seem to do just fine.
Today’s ride was a short one but we did squeeze in three museums and got lots of pictures. Oh, the joy! We made our first stop at the Campbell County Rockpile Museum located in Gillette WY. It displays fossils, Native American items, weapons & other cultural artifacts. Permanent and changing exhibits along with educational programming, performances, and events provide insight into the interesting past and present of the area.
A few blocks away we found the Frontier Auto Museum. We got a discount because we from visiting the Rockpile Museum. Interestingly, the car museum rents itself after hours to photographers.
There is lots to see besides vehicles from the past, old gasoline pumps, and 1950’s artifacts. They even have a miniature town setup with its own train going around. It’s a very bright and colorful museum.
The West Texas Trail Museum in Moorcroft WY was our last stop. Moorcroft is a small town of ±1,000 residents. Yet, it has a museum.
The museum looks like a work in progress. Maybe it will have more exhibits and stuff to see as time moves on.
