Richfield UT to St. George UT

Not wanting to take the beaten path (I-70 to I-15) to get to St. George UT, we took Highway 89. We found the traffic easy and the scenes beautiful.

Our goal was to go through Zion National Park and then get to our hotel early. That’s because we have tickets to see the musical Peter Pan at the Tuacahn Amphitheater. It is promised that with faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust the Tuacahn Amphitheater will be magically transformed into Neverland.

The photographs we took could not compare to the actual beauty of Zion National Park. We were hoping to go all through the park but found out that our intended route required us to take a shuttle and Tickle was not allowed. Too bad.

In Hurricane UT we went into a small heritage museum. The docent, Sheila, was absolutely wonderful and related to many of the characters in town. There’s nothing as enlightening as hearing childhood stories that have become history.

Sheila, our docent, claims to have slid down this canal as a child!

Sheila points to one of her many ancestors.

As a child Jorge fell in love with Disney’s animated version of Peter Pan. However, he has soured over the retelling of the story through musicals. His reason? The person portraying Peter Pan is a girl! Oh, what blasphemy! 😉
