The weather got lots better today even though it was a bit cooler in the morning. We headed to the town of Buckeye AZ to see a 25-foot statue of Hobo Joe. The statue was the brain child of Ray Gillum and his friend Marvin Ransdell. Originally, Hobo Joe was to attract restaurant customers. Now he stands tall in Buckeye.

Next up was a visit to Bouse AZ to see a Secret Armored Military Tribute. It was one of several places across the American Southwest that General George S. Patton established to train tank troops.

The town also has an ‘outdoor’ museum next to it. It includes a train depot and a small jailhouse. Unfortunately, all the signs for the exhibits have rusted away.

Then we looped around and came to Quartzsite AZ, the Rock Capital of the World! It’s located just 17 miles from the California border at the intersection of I-10 and Highway 95. Each winter two-million visitors are welcomed. We can testify that there were lots of people, cars, trucks and RVs in the streets. Ellen says she’s never seen so many RVs in one place. This is a ‘rocking’ town!

There once was a U.S. Army Camel Corp. It was located in Quartzsite and easily explains why the camel is the town logo. Off we went!

Today we had another long ride and you’ll find lots of road pictures. What a fun day!
