The distances between places seem to be further apart out West. Today’s drive was a long one. We don’t know why our GPS wouldn’t take us through I-10 from Las Cruces NM to Phoenix AZ but the drive turned out to be delightful.

We saw a part o New Mexico we might have never seen. Fort Sheldon was closed but it’s a place we’ll have to put on our bucket list.

Then going through Hatch NM was a treat. We found lots of statues both big and small that would make Disney blush (almost). The biggest one was of Uncle Sam

Throughout the town we also found statues of green space aliens. We figure that it is the latest craze. What else could it be?

The town of Hatch is known for its chile. Since Jorge doesn’t like hot stuff (What a bad Mexican he is!) he did not sample any of it.

We don’t know why there were giant solar panels off the road. Maybe they are experimenting with them.

The highlight today was seeing desert snow! Yes, it snowed in the desert. It was the big, flaky stuff that melted when it hit the ground. You can see some pictures of the desert where it collected. Pretty kewl!

Why a McDonald’s would have a dinosaur out front is a mystery but there it was. We had another great day in America!
