Not many museums, if any, are opened on July 4th. So we chose to do some “drive-by photography” instead. We drive be a landmark and take a photo. Here’s today’s list:

    • A Giant Aluminum Rose

    • A Yawning Hippo

    • The Hartman Rock Garden

    • The Beer Keg Burglar

    • A Monument to Ohio Teachers

    • The Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) Mural

    • A Bronze Statue of Astronaut John Glenn

    • A Soldier Covering His Ears

    • A Fancy Mural of Dean Martin

Springfield OH is known as the Rose City. When they figured out how to preserve flowers they started shipping them around the country. That’s where the city monicker comes from.

The Yawning Hippo stands in front of a garbage dump. Feed him your garbage!

The Rock Garden is made by Ben Hartman. We figure this is his backyard.

The Beer Keg Burglar is found in Columbus OH. What a hoot! Not far is the Monument to Teachers (sponsored the state teachers retirement fund).

Cambridge OH hosts the Hopalong Cassidy Mural and the bronze statue of John Glenn. If you don’t who they are then you are very, very young.

We found a statue of a very smart soldier ready to fire a cannon…he covers his ears! He is located in Bridgeport OH.

Then finally we saw a big mural of Dean Martin singing on stage. You got it: His home town is Steubenville OH!
