We chose to visit another Cody WY attraction before leaving town. It was the Old Town Trail and Museum. Featured are cabins and buildings shipped in from Wyoming and Montana. The idea is to create a ghost town. They even reburied a few famous (some criminal) characters from the Old West.
Heading out of town we agreed that the people of Wyoming are infatuated with the Old West. There are statues of horses, bears, buffalo, cowboys, guns, wagons, cabins and so on. We like it!
The Museum of flight & Aerial Firefighting was not much…just several airplanes to look at. We were expecting more.
We got more at the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum. It turns out that he was a successful pharmacist that loved collecting things to keep the history of the area alive.
To better understand this history is to know what the Johnson County Wars were all about. You can get a detailed historical account of that by clicking here.
