From St. George UT we headed north to Ogden UT. Our big surprise was seeing the maximum posted speed on Interstate 15. It was 80 m.p.h. most of the way! And we thought that only Texas boasted such speed limits.
We driving by the land locked light house many times before but this time we decided to stop and take a good picture of it. It had been a feature attraction of a now defunct mall.
We previously visited the Frontier Homestead State Park but decided to see it again. It is much improved with nice sidewalks for safety.
On the premise are many things including a fort, a giant water wheel, a school house, a shearing shack for sheep, stalls for horses, a chuckwagon, a pioneer cabin, lots of farm equipment and even a jail for Jorge and Tickle in. Whew! We recommend this museum.
We had to stop and take a picture of the statue of Philo T. Farnsworth. He is known as the “Father of Television.” As a high school student he figured out how to make a cathode ray project images over long distances. He drew a schematic and showed it to one of his teachers. If he hadn’t done that, he may have never proved he was the first to invent the idea of television. RCA tried to steal his limelight but ultimately failed. Count one for the little guy!
The Art (and stone) Yard of Dead Wood is technically closed, but it was easy to take photos from the front of the property. It has fallen into disrepair but what is left is pretty neat to see.
The Scipio Petting Zoo is located across a side street of a Pilot Flying J gas station. It is privately funded and generous donations are requested. We only have a few animals to show. It’s a clean place and the animals are well fed and look healthy.
You’ll see photos of the road ahead. Utah is a beautiful state!
