War Eagle was known as a “good Indian” because he made peace with the White Man. That’s the short story. His real name was Wambdi Okicize and the Natives called him Little Eagle. Whites always referred to him as War Eagle, which is odd because all through his life War Eagle sought to keep peace.


Sgt. Charles Floyd earned his monument as the only man to die in the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He must have been well liked to deserve such a wonderful memorial.


The tall cornstalk stands in a local park. It is 76-feet tall. Jorge wondered why lightening has not struck it!
